Class today

Push Forces are when you country is in really bad shape and people are leaving. A Pull Force is when your country is in really good shape and a lot of people are coming to the country. The total fertility rate average number is 2.1. The TFR mean the child born per women. 2.1 is the replacement rate. 100,000 people are leaving Syria in the last few days. People from turkey are going to Germany for jobs.

Retreat

I went on a retreat. It was fun.

Notes

The crude birth rate is the number of births per 1000 of the population. The crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1000 of the population. The rate of natural increase RNI is important. The RNI is produced by subtracting the number of deaths by the number of births. This gives us the annual growth rate in percentage form for a country or region.

Population and Migration

There are over 7 billion people on the earth. That number increases by over 73 million per year. 90% of these population growth takes place in the developing of Africa and East Asia and Latin America. Many developing countries are the ones with the most technology.

Test

We took a test today. I thought that it was fair. I have to be honest I studied but I was so happy that I could use my blog for help. Hopefully I didn't do horrible. I'm kind of starting to like human geo more then I thought I would. At my old school I was not good at history or anything like that at all. I think that Mr. Schick is a good teacher and its easy fro my to learn from him. he really keeps are attention and he has a sense of humor.

Missed Class toaday

I was absent from class today because I attended the funeral of my friend, Alayna Meekins grandmother.

Class today

We learned about globalization and it is the connection of different parts of the world. The Islamic State are trying to take over a lot of land near them. We have troops all over the places over there and they are in a lot of danger. Globalization has been around for a while. We are Americanizing different parts of the world with fast food and such. China is stating to be more like America. People all over the world are starting to understand more languages'.

Crazy Video we watched today

We watched this video today in class and it was about how fast the world is moving. There are more honor students in India then there are people in the US. That's so crazy, it makes the US feel small. In school they are preparing us for jobs that don't exist yet. That blows my mind because your supposed to plan out your future but how are you supposed to when you don't know what jobs are going to be. One out of eight married couples meet online and I just think that that is really sad. People are so antisocial that they cant meet people face to face and talk to them. If Facebook where a country it would be the third largest after China and India. I can't even think about that its so....I don't even know its crazy!!! There are more text message sent and received everyday then there are people on the planet. I don't even know if the world is moving in the right direction or not I just know that it is changing and fast.

Seats

In class we all walked in and Mr. Schick told us to stand up. He started picking up peoples things and putting them in different spots of the room. Everyone started to get really angry about this. People where yelling. So we decided to have are own agora in the class room. People where getting up and yelling that they didn't like there seat and they wanted to move. I like my seat so when we voted and everyone started moving I stayed in my seat. And that is where I am going to stay for the rest of the year! Thank you Mr. Schick for my seat in you class.

Agora--in ancient Greece a public open space used for assemblies and markets

Arete--a sharp mountain ridge

Polis--a city state in ancient Greece, especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes

The Year 508 BC--three-year conflict then Klisthenis came into power

Socrates--ancient Athenian philosopher; teacher of Plato and Xenophon

Class Today 9/3/14

In 1899 A Message to Garcia was published. Everyone told the president that Rowan would get the message to Garcia without any questions asked. We discussed today in class that A message to Garcia is a metaphor. Way back in 1899 this passage went viral. Also we watched Mr. Schick awesome ALS ice bucket challenge. I think that it is great that Mr. Schick is also donating money. I also think that it is fantastic that ALS has raised way more than last year so that they can do more research on ALS. I'm very sorry to hear about one of Mr. Schick relatives passing away form ALS.

5 Points on Success

For freshman year everyone wants to be successful. I think there are five was to be successful. Way one, always be organized, so you know where everything is and it is easy to get to. Way two, always bring in assignments on time. You want your grade to be as high as it can be. Way three, don't stress yourself out with your work load. You might have a lot but you can just work through it slowly and get it all done. Way four, have a plan for when you get home and do your work. Way five, study so you don't get bad grades and can be successful your freshmen year.

Class today

Class today Mr. Schick told us that not all of us had are blogs up and running. He told us to turn on are computers and go to are blog so that he could see what the problem was. In alphabetical order he read down the list and told us to come up. I was one of the people that wasn't up and running. Mr. Schick didn't know what the problem was at first. I went back to my seat and tried to see what was going on. I didn't really find anything. Mr. Schick called me back up and he told me that I should download google carom. I hope that it works this time!
